Maaike Pleunie Ronhaar (1978) is a Dutch independent artist and photographer based in Twente. For nearly a decade, she has explored authenticity, belonging, and the human experience through photography. Moving between the seen and unseen, her images reflect energy, presence, and honest expression.
Her career began in 2016 as a live music photographer, touring across Europe with bands and artists. Immersed in sound, movement, and atmosphere, and through collaborations with musicians, artists, creatives, and modern mystics, and inspired by the elements of nature, these experiences shaped her vision and approach. Her distinctive style grew to be poetic, timeless, mystical, and raw-edged.
Maaike approaches photography as a spiritual act. Beyond the image itself, her practice is a dialogue between worlds, where authenticity acts as medicine and each photograph emerges through co-creation, capturing both portrait and narrative, emotion, character, and the essence of the moment.
