Biography
Maaike Ronhaar is a spirited visual artist based in Twente, in the eastern part of the Lowlands. Her work moves between portraiture and documentation, guided by a deep sensitivity to the unseen and the raw.
Artist Statement
‘Authenticity is medicine’
My work is driven by a personal pursuit of cultural identity, a sense of belonging and a love for the mystical.
This shapes my practice, which involves creating space where diversity is recognised and valued, setting an inclusive environment that nurtures authenticity. It allows discovery within my work, trusting the organic flow of the moment and allowing the power of creation to emerge.
My style is timeless, mysterious, pure, and soft, yet with a raw edge. This blends in perfectly with my biggest passion, Analogue Photography, which allows me to slow down and be fully present in the moment, where the Magick happens.
